This year’s first batch of Bakery Course students under Lha Charitable Trust’s Livelihood Skill Training program completed their course on April 21. The course started in March and was held in Ahimsa House at Lha office premises. The batch consisted of six students and they were trained by Tenzin Donsel who has run a home bakery for the last couple of years. On the final day of the course, the students made all the items they learned and displayed them to their teacher and Lha staff. The students have made seven different cakes, breads, apple pies, donuts and cookies. Following their classroom training, the students will start their one-month internship in cafes and bakeries in the town. Internship was made compulsory as it will give the students exposure and practical experience in the profession.

A second Bakery Course for another six students started on April 24, 2023. The series of Livelihood Skill Training programs are funded by the Tibet Fund.
