Last year, Lha ran a very successful three-month photography class for ten students. Students were taught in class in the morning, and took photos in the afternoon. They then used their photos to create and edit their own blogs. The students’ photos and stories culminated in a stunning photography exhibition entitled “Unseen Dharamsala: Refugee Life As Seen Through The Eyes of Refugees.” Please see www.unseendharamsala.blogspot.com for more.

Following the success of last year’s class, this year, Lha, in conjunction with the Tibetan Day School, has run two more photography classes, each of one month’s duration. The classes were run by volunteer photography teachers, Joanna Rosenthal and Ariya Martin. Both classes have consisted of five Lha students, and five students from the Tibetan Day School (from 10 to 12 years of age). As with last year’s group, students first attended a theory class, and then were sent into the field to take photographs in the afternoon. Students from both classes will start their own blogs using photos taken during class. Please see www.http://www.kidcameraproject.org/to see more of Joanne and Ariya’s work with the child victims of Hurricane Katrina.
