Americans and Tibetans Team up to Share Cultural Experiences

This month, Lha welcomed two student groups, one from Tulane University and another from the Rustic Pathway.

The Tulane group stayed at Lha's Ahimsa House in McLeod Ganj and during their time with us they explored the town and the Tibetan refugee community and learned about Tibetan culture, Buddhism and the Tibet issue.

Observance of National HIV Testing Day at Lha Charitable Trust

On 27th June, Lha Charitable Trust prepared an awareness talk on HIV/AIDS for the adult students of the Lha language classes. Lha organized this event to educate students about HIV/AIDS in honor of National HIV Testing Day, celebrated every year on the 27th of June. The program involved the encouragement of HIV testing, and information on local opportunities to promote health.

Lha organizes a Mass Clean-Up

Symbolizing an act of gratitude to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on his 80th birthday, Lha Charitable Trust (Lha) organized a mass clean-up today, in collaboration with the Clean Upper Dharamshala Program (CUDP), Tibetan Footpath Association, and Tibetan Women's Association.

The program started from 10am with volunteers, students and staff members of Lha distributing brochures in Tibetan, Hindi, and English on environment awareness and management of waste material in the town.

20th Clean Water Project at Tibetan Library, Gangkyi

On 10th June 2015, Lha installed its 20th reverse osmosis water purification system under the Clean Water Project at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives (LTWA).

The LTWA was founded by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in order to preserve the precious manuscripts of Tibet.

The cornerstone for the Library's impressive Tibetan-style building was laid on 11th June 1970 in the hill station of Dharamshala, northern India of the exiled Tibetan community.

Cultural Exchange Group from Centenary College

Lha hosted a student group from Centenary College, New Orleans in the United States, this month on the Lha Cultural Exchange Programme.

The group, consisting of nine students and their professor Dr David Otto reached Dharamshala on May 9. The group was here to explore the Tibetan refugee community and to learn more about Tibetan culture, Buddhism and the Tibet issue.
