varanasi-1On November 5, Lha Charitable Trust launched the website www.samdhongrinpoche.com and a Felicitation Volume in gratitude to His Eminence Professor Samdhong Rinpoche, as part of the celebration of Rinpoche's 75th birthday. The celebration took place at the Central University of Tibetan Studies (CUTS), Varanasi.

The website and Felicitation Volume were inaugurated by Professor Geshe Ngawang Samten, Vice Chancellor of the university. The event was attended by members of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile Mr Thupten Lungri and Mr Pema Jungney, alumni and current students of the university, as well as several hundred other guests.

"I sincerely appreciate Lha Charitable Trust for taking the responsibility and successfully launching the website on Professor Samdhong Rinpoche which shares his valuable writings and speeches to the public," Geshe Ngawang Samten told the gathering. He also mentioned that Ngawang Rabgyal, the Director of Lha Charitable Trust, had given a brief introduction to the organisation, through which he came to know that Lha is a social work organisation that works on many social welfare projects, environment and health related projects, and provides educational opportunities to Tibetan refugees.

"I am glad that the organisation is growing day by day, expanding the reach of its social welfare projects and that is very good. Today on this special occasion Lha launched this website which will be of great benefit to society. Rinpoche has dedicated and worked his whole life for the cause of Tibet and the welfare of the Tibetan people. It is our responsibility to wish him a long life and all the success in future by making this birthday a grand celebration," Geshe Ngawang Samten added.
varanasi 2Mr Ngawang Rabgyal, Director of Lha Charitable Trust explained the objectives and process of publishing the Professor Samdhong Rinpoche website and Felicitation Volume to the gathering.

"We are happy that we could successfully complete and launch this website on His Eminence Professor Samdhong Rinpoche's birthday. We have initiated this website under our project for the preservation and promotion of the Tibetan culture and religion, since the beginning of the year," he said.

Mr Ngawang Rabgyal also thanked all the supporters and motivators who had been there since the beginning of this project. "I would like to thank Dr Tenzin Dhonyoe la, Personal Assistant to Professor Samdhong Rinpoche, who helped us in providing almost all of Rinpoche's teachings, speeches and writings, and also gave his valuable guidance from time to time.

I would also like to thank all the members of the web designing and managing team Ms Pema Zomkyi, Mr Murray, and our staff Mr Sangay Dorjee and Mr Demay Tsering. Special thanks to our Deputy Director Mr Lobsang Rabsel and General Secretary Ms Dukthen Kyi for their encouragement and support, and to all the other staff and volunteers of Lha for turning this project into a reality.

varanasi-4Besides the website we are also fortunate enough to open and publish the Felicitation Volume in gratitude to HE Professor Samdhong Rinpoche on this great occasion of his 75th birthday. Our sincere thanks and gratitude goes to Geshe Ngawang Samten la for doing the honour of launching the book, and the university alumni group for providing all the facilities to make this event a big success.

Thanks to all the members of the editorial board who have been so dedicated and hard working throughout the process of making the book.
It's a dream come true to successfully accomplished these two major projects together on this auspicious day.
