Trust Chairman & Executive Director

Mr. Ngawang Rabgyal was born in 1977. As a boy he studied Buddhist philosophy at some of the prominent monasteries in his home town and Lhasa. After his education in a monastic environment, he attended other educational centers before moving to Delhi. Mr. Rabgyal has been an active member of Lha since 2003 and during his stay in Delhi, he worked with Lha’s advisor Neil Guidry and former director Jampa Tsering as a coordinator and guide to groups of university students. In July 2008, he elected Trust Chairman and was appointed as Lha's Director. Before joining the staff at Lha, Mr. Rabgyal worked at Khawakarpo Tibet Culture Centre as an Administration Manager and reporter for the Tibet Express (a weekly Independent Tibetan Language newspaper). He has been a project officer of the Wildlife Protection Society of India, an activist for environmental and wildlife conservation campaigns,and has also worked with some international environmental NGOs.

Additionally, he has successfully organized two mega Wildlife Conservation Campaigns in the Tibetan community between 2006 and 2008. He has written a book on Environment and Wildlife Conservation in the Tibetan language, which was released in June 2008. He is also a member of the International Rotary Club.

Trust Vice Chairman, Deputy Director and Volunteer Coordinator

Lobsang Rabsel received his formal monastic education in Sera, Tibet. He came to India in 1993 and joined the Tibetan Transit School for two years before working at Khana Nirvana for four years. In 1998, he handled the layout of Contact magazine and also became the volunteer coordinator for Volunteer Tibet, where he remained until 2001. In 2003, he took full charge of Contact magazine He later became the manager of Common Ground Café and is now he is Vice Chairman, Deputy Director and volunteer Coordinator at Lha.


Programme Manager

Dorji Kyi was born in Amdo, Tibet. She came to India in 1993 and studied in Tibetan Children’s Village School. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Madras Christian College. After that she pursued Masters in Communication from M.O.P Vaishnav College for Woman- Chennai.

After her studies, she worked for Amazon.com for two year as the English Catalog associate. From 2013 to 2015 she worked at Tibetan Women’s Association, as the Environment and Development Officer. Currently Dorji Kyi is working at Lha as the Program Manager.

Tenzin Sherab la

Manager of Lha Tibet Fair Trade

Tenzin Sherab was born in Tibet and came to India when he was just five. He studied in T.C.V. School Suja and later joined T.C.V. School Bylakuppe for his interest in commerce and trade subject.

He graduated from Andhra Loyola College with Master in Business Administration in Symbiosis college of Pune.

Sherab joined Lha in April 2014. He manages the Lha Tibet Fair Trade Company which is under the operation of Lha Charitable Trust.


Contact Magazine Assitant Editor/Reporter

Tenzin Samten was born in Dhingri, Tibet. She came toIndia in 1993 and did her schooling at Tibetan Children's Village (TCV) school. She finished her high school from TCV Gopalpur and did her further studies in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She pursued Bachelors in English literature from Meenakshi College for women and Masters in the same field from Loyola College.

After completing her studies, she worked at Amazon Kindle Publishing department as Senior Associate from 2012-2014. In 2015, she joined Lha as Programme Manager. Currently, she is working at Lha as Editor/Reporter for Contact magazine.

Trust member & Office Assitant

Tapsang was born in a small town in Lhasa in 1980. She came to India in 1993 and was self-employed till 2004.

She has worked at Lha since December 2004. Currently she works as a cook, an office assistant, and massage therapist.


Lha Community Soup kitchen Cook

Tenzin Yangdu was born in 1991 in Kham Dhege, Tibet. In 2007, he came to India crossing the Himalayas on foot. He studied Tibetan Buddhism at Drepung Loseling monastery in South India until 2012.

He later came to Dharamsala and studied English at Tibet Charity and Lha Charitable Trust for a year. In 2013, he joined Lha Charitable Trust as a Cook for Lha Community Soup Kitchen.

Tenpa Thutop

Lha Community Soup kitchen Cook

Tenpa Thutop was born on 1st July, 1987 in Tsawa Pashoe, Kham (Tibet). He came to India in 2005 and went to Tibetan Transit School in Dharamsala for 5 years.

He worked as a Chef at the Tibet Kitchen restaurant for many years and joined Lha in 2012 as a cook for Lha Community Soup Kitchen.

Dhundup Choephel

Lha Community Soup kitchen Cook

Dhondup Choephel was born on 15th May, 1985 in Tsawa Pashoe, Kham (Tibet). In 2008, while on a pilgrimage to Lhasa and Shigatse he continued his journey and escaped to India.

Under the kindness and guidance of His Holiness he got the opportunity to study at Tibetan Transit School for 5 years.

He worked as a cook at the Tibet Kitchen restaurant for a year from 2013-2014 and joined Lha in 2015 as a cook for Lha Community Soup Kitchen.
